MennoHomes Projects

The Village

Paved, sodded and all rented out - MennoHomes first project provides housing for 16 families.

From Construction to Community Building

With all units now rented, the MennoHomes board is eager to continue in its efforts to have "The Village" be "homes" not only "houses." As we have believed from the start, that means more than attractive design, quality construction and good management. It will mean continuing to invest human energy so that "The Village" can truly become a village, a community where people begin to build trust and familiarity.

In partnership with Mennonite Central Committee Ontario, MennoHomes has placed Dorene Rudy-Snyder as a Community Worker to work alongside tenants in creating the kind of living community they want for their families

"Innovative Waterloo Development mixes rental townhouses and affordable apartments"

MennoHomes partners with Blaze Properties Inc. to provide 25 affordable units. The attractive bricked homes contain single bedroom units, seven of which will carry a rent subsidy to make them highly affordable.

We encourage readers who are aware of potential tenants to visit Blaze Properties Inc. website for more information!

The Stirling Ave. Refugee House

MennoHomes responds to housing needs of refugee families

Creative Partnerships continue to emerge! First Mennonite Church in Kitchener has a long standing interest in refugee support and they wanted to sell a church-owned house. At the same time, the Mennonite Coalition for Refugee Support has been encouraging MennoHomes to create rental housing that is a good fit, both in size and cost, for significant needs of refugee families entering the K-W area. MennoHomes has finalized the purchase of the house from First Mennonite at $30,000 below market value. (Thank you First Mennonite for this generous contribution)!

Volunteer labour from First Mennonite Church has been used to renovate this property back into a four bedroom home.

Eastwood Land Allows for Seniors' Project

MennoHomes has been offered the opportunity to make a major contribution to affordable seniors' housing in Kitchener, Ontario.

The Board of Eastwood Mennonite Community Homes Inc. conferred to MennoHomes their remaining vacant land and a wish to have MennoHomes continue with their vision. With this 3/4 acre parcel as equity, combined with financial gifts from donors and government grants, MennoHomes has proceeded to develop a 50-unit affordable housing project to meet the housing needs of a growing seniors population.
